What is Critical Alignment?
Critical Alignment is to adjust the body so that tension can fall off and movement arises again from relaxation and lightness. It is therefore not so much relaxation in tranquility, but mostly about relaxing whithin activity. Usually the classes start with a passive exercise whicj allows you to approach the tension in a particular part of the body.
Because the body often chooses to move araound to the stiff areas, we also work with a number of tools.
This ensure that your practise reaches the places where it is intended. For example, we work with headstander, backbenders, strips and rolls. Both relaxation, movement and strength is discussed and support each other. The body and breathing get more space and a source of positive feelings.
At the same time you work on strength to support a new, open body posture.
The method was developed by Gert van Leeuwen, also the author of the book "Yoga, Critical Alignment"
