Workshop Content
Saturday
9.00-12.00 Intuitive Energy practice, Kriya, Pranayama and Asana practice
The mornings start with a guided intuitive energy practice (meditation to clear your energy), guided Kriya & Pranayama (simple and effective yogic cleansing and breathing techniques) and continues with an Ashtanga practice. The Ashtanga practice starts as a led part up to and including the foundational poses and either continues as Mysore style or a led class, depending the level of experience of participants.
13.30-16.00 Chanting, Asana lab & yoga philosophy
We start the afternoon session with exploring one of the shanti mantra (meaning and pronunciation) and chant it to set a harmonious tone for this session.
From there we start to explore the foundational poses as a rare opportunity for energizing, healing, strengthening, grounding and creating internal space. You will learn how to use these humble postures with deeper awareness, finding structural foundation for forward bends, back-bends, inversions and hip-opening. Gain a new-found appreciation for this foundational work of yoga.
We close the day with a relevant yoga philosophy talk. Maxi's yoga talks are usually intuitive. During the day's session she will feel what may need to be addressed and she will allow her talk to go into that direction. Herein she may choose to talk about the yoga sutras, Ayurveda philosophy, yoga as a sustainable practice ….

Maxi is passionate about empowering people of all walks of life to find better inner perspectives for themselves through the means of yoga, breath work, Ayurveda and embodied coaching. Her students describe her as a compassionate teacher who skillfully and also lightheartedly combines her extensive experience and knowledge about ashtanga yoga, Ayurveda, the human body, somatics, movement, brain and behavior in a digestible way. She meets her students where they are at, seeing possibilities rather than restrictions.
Maxi first started practicing ashtanga yoga in 2004, and it has had a tremendous positive impact on her life, to share the least. She completed more than 3000h of teacher trainings, stays a student and keeps returning to her teachers. Some of her strongest influences as teachers have been Sharmila Desai, Matthew Sweeney, Susanna Finocchi, David Garrigues and Sharath Jois. She returns to Sharath Yoga Centre regularly. Maxi founded Bhumi Yoga (Groningen) in 2010 and runs a seasoned Ashtanga Mysore Yoga program.
